WestportReads: New Orleans Monologues About Katrina

WestportNow.com Image
The Westport Public Library tonight presented its penultimate event in its 2011 WestportReads series—“Zeitoun Monologues.”  An audience of about 100 came to the newly refurbished McManus Room to view an original staged reading of monologues written by New Orleans playwright Rob Florence. A group of five actors, assembled by Westporter Carole Schweid, read the monologues that reflected the way some people felt, behaved and reacted to the events during and after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. Pictured (l-r) are actors Damian Long, Quillian, Tom Zingarelli, Eileen Lawless, and Mark Sage Hamilton. The final event in the series is a New Orleans-style party on Feb. 11 at the library with live jazz, cocktails and New Orleans cuisine. More information here.
