An application for a permit to demolish the house at Westport’s 82 Compo Mill Cove is in process. Built in 1964, the 1-1/2 story custom contemporary has 3,203-square feet, is situated on a .22-acre property and changed ownership in June for $1,455,000. Because the house was built more than 50 years ago, the application will be reviewed by the Westport Historic District Commission. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com

Is it a Historic District after all the old houses are gone? Will permission be needed to demolish the “Historic District” sign”?
