WestportNow Teardown of the Day: 18 Sturges Commons

WestportNow.com Image
An application for a permit to demolish the house at Westport’s 18 Sturges Commons, off Sturges Highway, is in process. Built in 1945, the 1 1/4-story cape has 1,978 square feet and is situated on a 1.15-acre property.  Because the house was built more than 50 years ago, the application will be reviewed by the Westport Historic District Commission. When we first moved to Westport in 1987, I loved the stone capes on Sturges Commons.  I’m sorry to see that they are being torn down.  They have character.
