The New England Press Association, a Boston-based trade group of New England community newspapers, features a story about WestportNow in its December edition.
In a story headlined News Web site offers digital twist to media mix in Westport, Conn.,Ԕ reporter Megan Leppert recounted WestportNow’s history and said the two local Westport newspapers do not consider it competition.
“Residents often choose the medium that is best-suited to their lifestyle and needs at the time, Christina Hennessy, editor of the Westport News, told the publication.
ԓI believe we are still the source of news for local residents, as well as the place they turn to for arts coverage, information on sporting events, business items and other features.”
As for the other local newspaper, Tom Henry, editor of the Westport Minuteman, said reporters for the Minuteman have actually gotten tips for stories from WestportNow,” the NEPA Bulletin said.
“ӒI suppose it is valuable. Whether or not there was a need for it, that is for the public to decide; however, we find it valuable,” Henry said.
