WestportNow… and Then: Post Road East Circa 1937

WestportNow continues its occasional feature of Westport postcard scenes of the past and how they look today. Bottom is a circa 1937 view of State Street East. The YMCA is at the left, Westport Bank and Trust Co. in the center, and Toquet Opera House near right with the four windows. The building with the rounded roof is the Fine Arts Theatre. Top is the view today of Post Road East—the YMCA remains at the left, HUBCO Bank occupies the center building, the theatre is now Restoration Hardware, and there is a teen center on the second floor of what is now called Toquet Hall.
