Westport High School Robotics Teams Win in N.J.

WestportNow.com Image
Two high school robotics teams from Westport traveled to Marlton N.J. Saturday to compete in the first of six qualifying events for the New Jersey State FIRST Tech Challenge competition. After a day of strenuous competition, both teams were members of the three-team winning alliance of the competition. As a result of this and various other awards, both teams qualified to advance to the N.J, State Championships in March. Wrecker Robotics (l) won the Connect Award, and were first runner up for the Motivate Award and second runner up for the Innovate Award. I²Robotics was first runner up for the Inspire Award and the Innovate Award, and second runner up for the Control Award. Both teams will be participating in a scrimmage in Ridgefield on Dec. 15. In 2014, they will attend the Connecticut State Qualifiers in Greenwich and Windsor and hope to qualify for the state championships March 8 at Greens Farms Academy in Westport. Neither team is an “official” Staples High School team as Staples does not have a robotics program. Both are privately organized and funded. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Contributed photo
