A truck carrying relief supplies for Hurricane Katrina victims left Westport today for Pascagoula, Miss. Among those posing for a picture before its departure from Westport Fire Headquarters were Gordon Joseloff, editor of WestportNow and moderator of the Representative Town Meeting (5th from right), First Selectwoman Diane G. Farrell (4th r), Chief Chris Ackley (3rd r), Audrey Demetres (2nd r), and Marcia Goodgame (1st r). Westporters Goodgame and Demetres initiated the aid mission and enlisted the help of Joseloff, who, in turn, put Farrell in touch with the city manager of Pascagoula. Goodgame’s husband, Dan, traveled to his native Pascagoula and arranged for city officials to coordinate the aid from Westport. Westport firefighters, led by Ackley and working through Local 1081 of the International Association of Fire Fighters, collected the supplies and donated manpower and funds for their transport. Two Westport police officers are escorting the truck. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Jean Tighe for WestportNow.com
