Welcoming ‘Mr. Carpenter’ to Arts Center Image
The Westport Arts Center today installed on its deck a sculpture titled “Mr. Carpenter” made completely out of truck parts by Weston artist Dan Offutt (r). A sign on the deck asks passing motorists to “honk if you like Dan’s sculpture.” Getting the sculpture from Offutt’s home to the Arts Center required three men and a 10-wheel flatbed truck. Afterward, all celebrated Offut’s 74th birthday. With the artist are Peter Van Heerden, WAC executive director, and Helen Klisser During, director of visual arts. The sculpture will remain through the summer. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Contributed photo
