UPDATE Workers punctured a water line today during construction in the Compo Road North and Clinton Road area, the Aquarion Water Co. said.
Five to seven homes in the area were left without water and about 300 customers experienced discolored water, company officials said.
An 8-inch pipe was reportedly punctured by digging during the expansion of the problem intersection of Compo Road North and Main Street.
Workers on the scene said repairs were completed just before midnight. But the company said discoloration of water may persist.
“During and after the outage event, some customers may experience discolored water,” Aquarion said on its website.
“You may want to use stored water for drinking and cooking, and delay clothes washing until water is clear.
“Run your cold water faucet until the water appears clear, prior to resuming use for these purposes,” it said.
Water discoloration was reported on the following roads: Breezy Knolls, Brookside Place, Calumet Road, Carlile Court, Clinton Avenue, North Compo Road, Fillow Street, Laurel lane, Lees Lane, Maplewood Avenue, Millbank Road, Oak Street, Richmondville Avenue, Short Street, Sniffen Road, Stone Drive and Willowbrook Drive.
