Turn Clocks Back Tonight

Clocks should be turned back one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday for the return to Eastern Standard Time.

The Westport Fire Department said It continues to support “change your clock, change your battery” and urges everyone to change their smoke detector batteries.

The Fire Department said those needing assistance in changing their batteries should call (203)341-5010 to arrange for someone to come to their home to do so at no fee.

Fire Marshal Edward Zygmant noted that the U.S. Fire Administration said 1,874 persons have died in U.S. residential fires this year with numerous deaths attributed to not having smoke detectors or detectors not working.
