Tractor-Trailer Carrying Nitrogen Hits Saugatuck Avenue Railroad Bridge
A tractor-trailer carrying nitrogen got stuck under the Metro North Railroad bridge on Saugatuck Avenue today. There was no leak in the tank and no injuries, officials said.
The 18-wheeler hit the bridge at about 10:20 a.m. Police closed the road for an hour while firefighters and Metro North police inspected the damage and removed the truck.
A Department of Environmental Protection official also responded to the scene.
Firefighters said damage to the bridge appeared to be minimal and there was only minor damage to the truck.
Railroad traffic was not halted while emergency workers removed the truck from under the bridge.
