High humidity, temperatures in the upper 70s and a sky that looked like it might storm marked tonight’s debut of TeenFlix, the outdoor teen summer Monday night movie series at Westport’s Levitt Pavilion.
Tonight’s TeenFlix movie series debut at the Levitt Pavilion attracted a small but enthusiastic crowd. Among them were Freia Andrews, 13, (l) and her sister Siri, 12 (c.) (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Larry Untermeyer for WestportNow.com
The Westport Youth Commission-sponsored event was not packed, but those who showed up for the 2006 movie “Talledega Nights” starring Will Ferrell said they had a good time.
“This is my second year watching movies here, and I will come every Monday if I am around,” said Kate Doyle, 17, of Westport who came with a few friends to watch the show.
She said that she likes Will Ferrell and she found out about the NASCAR-themed movie through the Levitt Pavilion calendar.
Siri and Freja Andrews of Westport, came only for Will Ferrell. “It’s one of my favorite movies, and I have seen it like 10 times,” said Freja Andrews, 13.
“It is good to come here because we can hang out with friends before school starts,” said Siri Andrews, 12.
There are three other movies in the Monday night series in August: “Garden State” on Aug. 6, “Little Miss Sunshine” on Aug. 13, and “Spaceballs” on Aug. 20.
Brad Goldstein, 17, Westport, said he came because his parents thought it would be a good idea..
“And I have a friend over,” he said.
In the Phil and Tom Ice Cream stand were Joanne and Peter Topalian selling candy and refreshments.
It is their son’s business, but they help out now and then, said Joanne Topalian.
“We are here every Monday for movie night, and the entire summer for all events,” she said.
