Fall 2017 applications for the Community Service Corps, a student volunteer program for sixth through eighth graders, are now available, Elaine Daignault, Westport’s human services director, announced today.
According to Daignault, student volunteers work one afternoon each week from 3 to 5 p.m. during the 10-week program. The program culminates with an event at Toquet Hall where students get to reflect on and discuss their experiences, she said.
Some of the opportunities available through Westport Youth Services, a division of the Department of Human Services, include: Youth Advocacy, the Student Outreach Counselor, Positive Youth Development programs, Westport Mentor Program and after school/weekend programs at the Toquet Hall Teen Center.
Daignault said registration forms are available at http://www.westportct.gov/index.aspx?page=90 and on the Toquet Hall website. They can also be picked up at the Department of Human Services office in Town Hall, Room 200.
A copy of the student’s medical form must be submitted with the application, she said, adding that placement is based upon the student’s interests, as well as a first-come, first-served basis.
