Kion Bruno, 16, a Staples High School junior and president of its Building Bridges Club, today moderates a panel discussion on the refugee crisis at the school. Kion, the grandson of Iranian immigrants, earlier introduced a screening of “Salam Neighbor.”  Directed by Greens Farms Academy graduates Zach Ingrasci and Chris Temple, who lived in a Syrian refugee camp, the film provides an intimate look at the conditions faced there by refugees. Panelists included First Selectman Jim Marpe and U.S. Rep. Jim Himes. U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy and state Rep. Jonathan Steinberg sent video messages of support.
