Workers today service the roof of the historic structure at Westport’s 60 Jesup Green. The owners of the house, known as the Jesup/Godillot House, built in 1804, were the recipients in 2011 of the Historic District Commission Helen Muller Preservation Award for a property located in a Local Historic District. It is nice to see the home that generations of my father’s family called home is being beautifully cared for. I believe my father may have inherited the house from his grandmother, Helen (Hanford) Godillot, some time in the 1950s. He was in his 20’s and living in Philadelphia (at U-Penn), so he promptly sold it, unfortunately.
I have a silver birth cup from John Fitz. Godillot to his son Alexis Godillot (my grandfather who died before I was born) that no doubt came from the house.
Nice to see this article, thanks.
