The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Westport and portions of the tri-state area until 5 p.m.
The National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing nickel-size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.
These storms were located along a line extending from White Plains to Scarsdale, or over White Plains, and moving northeast at 15 mph.
In addition to large hail and damaging winds, continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm, an advisory said.
