Westport First Selectwoman Diane Goss Farrell shares a laugh with former Representative Town Meeting member Irwin Donenfeld tonight at a Board of Selectmen meeting at Town Hall. Donenfeld, who chaired a traffic calming committee while on the RTM, was there to urge the board to approve installation of speed humps on Silver Brook Road. The board approved that request but set aside similar requests by residents of Cob Drive and Cavalry Road pending further study. WestportNow.com photo

I am relieved that there will be no speed humps on Cob Drive. I live on North Avenue and in the morning on the way to work, if I turn north, I meet the cars and busses at Coleytown El. and then the parkway traffic at the end of Easton Road. Driving the other way, at Cross Highway, I would meet incredible delays from the Bedford and Staples traffic. Driving on Cob Drive is the only sane way to get to Cross Highway.
