Saved—for the Time Being

WestportNow.com Image
Christmas wreaths today masked the removal notices on several of the 15 trees designated for elimination along the entrance road to Westport’s Longshore Club Park. First Selectman Jim Marpe announced Friday he has postponed their removal to allow for a review and public meeting on the issue. Parks and Recreation Department officials said the trees have reached—or will soon—the end of their useful lives. Newer trees planted 20 or so years ago farther back from the roadway can be seen behind the trees designated for removal. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Phyllis Groner for WestportNow.com
