A book sale at the Saugatuck Plaza today attracted many buyers in support of Bridgeport-based Mercy Learning Center. According to Westporter Amy Saperstein, co-founder of the volunteer organization A.W.A.R.E.  (Assisting Women with Action, Resources and Education) the book sale is one of many events that are dedicated to raise funds for Mercy Learning Center. “In this 2014-2015 term, A.W.A.R.E. volunteers are dedicated to raise funds to benefit one specific charity. This year it is Mercy Learning Center.” The organization provides basic literacy and life skills training to low income women using a holistic approach within a compassionate, supportive environment.  Westporter Al DiGuido, founder of Al’s Angels and well-known for his own organization’s support of the less-privileged, provided the space for the book sale.
