Reunited After 50 Years

WestportNow.com Image
It was a 50-year reunion for Westport artist Miggs Burroughs and film producer Paula Wagner, pictured at a local screening of her latest movie, “Marshall,” the true story of a little known but sensational trial early in the career of Thurgood Marshall. Wagner and Burroughs were classmates and friends at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama, after which she went on to become one of the most successful agents in Hollywood. Her artists included Sean Penn, Oliver Stone, Val Kilmer, Demi More, Liam Neeson, and Tom Cruise, with whom she produced several of his most popular movies including “Mission Impossible I, II and III.” “Marshall” takes place in 1940, when a black chauffeur was accused of raping his wealthy, white Greenwich employer, and is eventually represented by Marshall in a Bridgeport courtroom. The screenplay was written by Westporter and famed attorney Michael Koskoff and his son Jacob. “Everyone agreed that it was a beautiful, powerful and important movie,” said Burroughs.
