WestportNow.com Image
Westporter Mike Hayes, a retired Naval SEAL officer, today accepted a jersey award marking his honorary membership of the Staples boys lacrosse team. The occasion was the team’s annual Sticks for Soldiers fundraiser to assist and support wounded veterans and their families. Hayes, a 1993 Holy Cross graduate, earned a Master’s at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Public Policy in 2005. He served in Iraq (2005-2007), then as a White House Fellow for the director, Defense Policy and Strategy until 2010, and deployed to Afghanistan 2010-2102 as commanding officer of the Navy SEAL Special Operations Task Force SE. He retired last summer after a 20-year military career. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
