Westport officers arrested two New York women today in a credit card and identity theft scam attempted at Verizon Wireless Zone stores.
The two were identified as Glory Ann Torres, 32, of New York, N.Y. and Stephanie Bundrick-Dume, 25, of Bronx, N.Y., said Lt. Anthony Prezioso. He said additional arrests may be forthcoming for incidents which occurred in other jurisdictions.
Police said an employee of the Verizon Wireless Zone store at 385 Post Road East in the Compo Shopping Center alerted them that a woman was seeking to get a cell phone upgrade with what appeared to be a fraudulent New Jersey operator’s license and a fraudulent credit card.
The store had been alerted by a Norwalk branch that the same female had also attempted an apparently fraudulent transaction at their store within the last hour, police said.
The woman fled before police arrived but she and the other woman were later stopped leaving another Verizon Wireless Zone store in Southport, police said.
In their car, police found five forged identifications and five forged credit cards.
Both were charged with a variety of forgery, larceny and identity theft counts and ordered held on $25,000 bond each for a court appearance on Monday, Dec. 19, police said.
