Officers arrested a Norwalk woman who while working as a housekeeper stole, forged and deposited $16,000 worth of checks from her employer, police said today.
Diana Parra, 48, turned herself in on a warrant Thursday at police headquarters where she was charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree forgery.
According to Lt. David Farrell, the incident dates back to January when the complaint was filed.
“The victim reported six bank checks totaling $16,000 were deposited to an unknown account that the victim did not write,” Farrell said. “It was learned that the checks were taken from victim’s checkbook. “
He said that officers obtained video surveillance from Citibank where the checks were deposited, and the suspect was positively identified as Parra, who has been employed a housekeeper for the victim.
She was ordered held on a $50,000 court-set bond for an Aug. 10 court date, Farrell said.
