Westport’s Public Works Department removed the U.S. flags flying on the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge today in advance of severe weather forecast for Thursday. Forecasters said Westport could get as much as 3.5 inches of rain and experience wind gusts up to 55 miles per hour. Most of the flags and flagpoles were destroyed in a severe thunderstorm in July.
