Officers arrested a Norwalk woman for driving under the influence, disobeying an officer’s signal and stopping on the wrong side of the road.
Ann Otto, 70, was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Monday, Aug. 7.
According to Lt. David Farrell, the incident took place on Friday, July 28 at about 6 p.m. when an officer observed a red Subaru that had failed to pull over for a fire truck on Easton Road.
“The fire truck had its emergency lights and siren activated,” Farrell said. “The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle continued onto Route 15 southbound.”
He said the officer pursued the vehicle southbound on the Merritt Parkways, then off at Exit 41 where the vehicle stopped on Wilton Road. Upon approaching Otto, the officer smelled “an unknown alcoholic beverage.”
“Otto stated she drank two glasses of wine,” Farrell said, adding that she failed the standard field sobriety tests administered.
At Police Headquarters Otto submitted to the breath test which showed her blood alcohol level was over the legal limit, he said.
