New Stairs, Retaining Wall at Commuter Lot

WestportNow.com Image
There are three new sets of stairs along with a retaining wall built as part of the repair and renovation of commuter parking lot No.1 at the Westport Metro-North station in Saugatuck. According to Mike Harris, construction inspector with Norwich-based CLA Engineers, concrete will be poured on Monday to create a new 1,110-foot by 4-foot wide walkway that runs along the newly installed retaining walls. He said granite treads will also be installed soon on the newly built stairs as well as on the one existing set of stairs. The parking lot is scheduled to be open Sept. 5.
