A routine motor vehicle stop on the Sherwood Island Connector Monday morning netted the arrest of a Massachusetts woman who had stashed narcotics pills in her Altoids container, Westport police said today.
Kelly Johnson, 24 of Foxborough, Mass., had been a passenger in the car driven by William Walsh, 26, of Mansfield, Mass. At the stop, “an officer smelled the distinct odor of marijuana from the car,” said Lt. Arthur Belile.
“The passenger, Johnson, admitted to having a small amount of marijuana (less than .5 oz), miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and pills in an ibuprofen bottle and Altoids container,” Belile said. “The pills were identified as amphetamine and dextoamphetamine.”
Charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, Johnson was transported to police headquarters and later released on $5,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Friday, Dec. 19, he said.
Walsh was not charged with a crime but cited with an infraction for having a small amount of marijuana, Belile said.
