Mildred S. Nilsen of Westport died at home. She was 83.
She was the wife of the late Karsten O. Nilsen. She was born July 5, 1932 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Anton Foss and Agnethe Foss Birkenes.
She was a member of the Westport Center for Senior Activities where she enjoyed playing bingo and being with her friends. She loved knitting, crochet, painting, playing cards and baking (and was well known for her special waffles).
She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and entertaining.
Survivors include two daughters, Kristin A. Nilsen and her partner Jo-Anne Graham of Long Beach, Calif., Arlene N. Fraser and her husband Douglas of Norwalk; her son Karl G. Nilsen and his wife Ellen of Easton, grandchildren Samantha, Christian and Ian Nilsen, Douglas Fraser Jr. and his fiancé Kate Caren, and Danielle Fraser, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by her sister Ann Torney Roach.
Services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, at 10 a.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk, with burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 5 from 5-8 p.m..
