Mary M. Ensinger, 92

Mary Frances Meade Ensinger, formerly with the Saugatuck Congregational Church, died April 12 in Exeter, N.H. She was 92.

Born March 24, 1922, in Bluefield, W. Va., she graduated from Westminster Choir College in 1943. She sang with the renowned Westminster Choir under the direction of founder Dr. John Finley Williamson and whose conductors included Arturo Toscanini and Leopold Stokowski.

She launched her career at the Saugatuck Congregational Church in Westport, serving in the development of its programming for young people.

She also served as director of Christian education at the North Avenue Presbyterian Church in New Rochelle, N.Y. Meeting Ferd Ensinger through a youth meeting at the church, they were married and together for 66 years. Following her husband’s career, she moved to Cincinnati, where she served as a member of the Board of Cincinnati Friends. The couple moved to New Hampshire in 1975, where she served on the New Hampshire State Board of Hospital.
