WestportNow.com Image
Kathie Benewitz, town curator, today joined First Selectman Jim Marpe in welcoming Russell Wirtalla of Somers as he visited Westport’s Minute Man Monument as part of the Westport Historical Society-sponosred Minute Man Day. He is a member of the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. The day also included the 37th Annual Minute Man Race at Compo Beach, tours of the beach area, a talk at the Westport Library, and a Revolutionary War militia encampment at Jesup Green. The day commemorates the April 25, 1777 landing of the British at Compo Beach. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
