The Westport Police Department today cautioned residents about heavy pedestrian traffic and road closures downtown Saturday because of the Westport Maker Faire.
An advisory said the the event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. would cover the area of Jesup Green and the new Bedford Square.
According to Lt. Eric Woods, organizers are expecting about 10,000 attendees.
“People attending the event will be crossing Post Road East to visit different activities and exhibits,” Woods said.
He said Church Lane will be closed to traffic between Elm Street and Post Road East.
“There will be an increase in police presence; however, motorists are advised that there will be a significant increase in pedestrian traffic and asked to travel through the area safely,” said Woods
