Lawrence “Larry” J. Silfen of Stratford, a former longtime Westport resident, died July 16. He was 63.
Born in Springfield, Massachusetts on Dec. 21, 1953, he was the son of Ruth Cohen Silfen and the late Murray Silfen. He attended Wilbraham and Monson Academy and the University of North Carolina.
He started his career as a foreign currency trader at Irving Trust and for many years was a member of the New York Stock Exchange working on the trading floor.
He loved life, his fast cars, reggae music, his dog Ziggy Marley, a steak at Sparks, a see-through drink at Mario’s, and nothing but the finest suits and ties. But more than anything else he loved his wife, Diane Haehl Silfen.
In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by his brother Alan Silfen (Belen) of Los Angeles, his stepsons Seth Van Beever of Key West, Florida, Baird Van Beever (Kristin) of Trumbull, and his grandchildren Colin and Lina Van Beever.
At Larry’s request, there will be no services. Interment will be private.
