Lavinia G. Savastano, 87

Lavinia G. “Vinnie” Savastano of Branford, a former Westport resident, died Dec. 25 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was 87.

She was born in Westport on July 4, 1927, daughter of the late Nicholas and Lena Valiente Dorsey. She worked as a local and long distance operator for SNET for almost 30 years until retiring.

She is survived by her children, Jay (Diane) Savastano, Ginger (Wayne) Sokolosky, Jeff (Stephanie) Savastano and Robert (Christina) Savastano; grandchildren, Nina (AJ Gagliardi), Eric, Grant, Taylor, and Austin; her brother Louis Dorsey and her sister, Patricia (Larry) Wood. She was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Young.

Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, Monday, Dec. 29 at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 11 a.m.. Friends may call Sunday, Dec. 28 from 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave,. FL. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
