Fall items are popping up at the Westport Farmers Market as it enters its final month. Pumpkins are among the items now available. The market runs each Thursday at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Oct. 26 at the Westport Country Playhouse. Vendors are already planning for next year. This has been a fabulous addition to Westport’s summer and fall. I really appreciate not having to travel to Greenwich, Rowayton, Darien, or Weston to get the best organic vegetables, meats, cheeses, local honey, and dairy products. Thanks to Gordon Joseloff, Paul Newman and the many other people that brought the farmers’ here and made it work. Here’s a suggestion: How about including some our local shellfishermen in the next season? The farmers market in Santa Cruz has the most amazing seafood in addition to all of the above.
