JoyRide to Launch Cross-Training Space

Westport’s JoyRide Cycling + Fitness Studio has announced it will expand to launch a new state-of-the-art, 4,000-square foot cross-training space.

The expansion will allow it to offer cross-training classes and personal training sessions, as well as introduce a new signature class, JoyX, “a challenging, full-body, high-energy workout designed to free one’s inner athlete and push boundaries,” an announcement said.

These intense group-training classes will focus on strength, agility, speed and power, by incorporating rowing machines, TRX, boxing, mixed martial arts and weights, it said.

JoyRide will also be able to expand its popular JoyCircuit class, which will now be accessible to more people.

The new space will open in January, upstairs from JoyRide’s popular indoor cycling studio at 1200 Post Road East, in the former Fitness Factory space.

JoyRide said it has recruited popular trainer Andy Berman, mixed martial arts and kickboxing expert Flow Trandu, well-known coaches Will Myers, Jeni Applegate and Jimmy Coscina, as well as long-time, popular JoyRide instructors Tony Hernandez, Alison Vitolo, Nike Ambassadors and JoyRide Master Trainers Mackenzie Pretty and Armond Jordan.

These coaches, along with JoyRide co-owner and lead instructor Rhodie Lorenz, will design the new workouts, using the best, most effective fitness tools and techniques, the announcement said.

“Whether you’re an elite athlete or want to train like one, our new JoyX workouts will challenge you to push hard and test your limits,” said Amy Hochhauser, co-owner of JoyRide. “We can’t wait to offer more sweat, more intensity and more joy.”

Co-owners Amy Hochhauser and Rhodie Lorenz opened their first JoyRide studio in Westport, in June 2011.

Later, they opened three more in Connecticut—in Darien, Ridgefield and Wilton – as well as two studios in San Antonio, Texas.
