Josephine Pagliaro Palmieri, 92

Mrs. Josephine Pagliaro Palmieri, 92, of Westport, wife of the late Philip (Filomeno) Palmieri, passed away Sunday, March 29, at home in the company of her family.WestportNow.com Image

Mrs. Palmieri was born in Cavallari, Italy, Oct. 4, 1916, daughter of the late Joseph and Elisabetta (Carusone) Pagliaro and has been a resident of Westport for 77 years.

She is the owner of Palmieri Nurseries in Westport. Mrs. Palmieri was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Assumption and Assumption Mature Adults.

Survivors include two sons, Carlo J. Palmieri and his wife Susan of Fairfield, and Francis J. Palmieri also of Fairfield; two daughters, Mary Palmieri Gai and her husband Andy of Westport, and Flo O’Brien and her husband Paul of Fairfield, one sister, Mary Izzo of Westport, one sister in-law, Maria Carusone of Westport, 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 32 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Palmieri was also predeceased by two sons, Vincent J. Palmieri, Joseph A. Palmieri, three brothers, Dominick, Antonio and Bizzarino Pagliaro and two sisters, Rose Palmer and Delores (Jenny) Izzo

Friends are invited to attend the funeral Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, and at 10 a.m. in Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, 395 Main St.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
