John M. MacDonald, 77

John M. MacDonald, 77, of Westport, husband of Florence (Anastasia) MacDonald, passed away Sunday, March 28 at home in the company of his family.

John was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Norwalk, son of the late Arthur and Ann (Lamb) MacDonald and has been a resident of Westport for the past 50 years.

Prior to retiring in 1982, he had been employed by Nash Engineering in Norwalk for 26 years in the Quality Control Department as an inspector.

John was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Frank C. Godfrey American Legion Post No. 12 in Norwalk.

He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and an avid fisherman. John also enjoyed spending time making his friends laugh and adored his family and spending time with them.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, his three daughters, Kathleen MacDonald of Southbury, Patty McCormick and her husband Mike of Westport, Sheila Nicholson and her husband Sean of Southbury, five grandchildren, Thomas MacDonald, Billy and Nicholas Gallo, Shane and Hannah Nicholson and many nieces and nephews. Mr. MacDonald was also predeceased by one brother and five sisters.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Wednesday, April 7, at 10 a.m. meeting directly at Saint Luke Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road North. Interment with full military honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

The Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
