John M. Nuzzo, 81

John M. Nuzzo of Willcox, Ariz., a former Westport resident, died Nov. 12. He was 81.

He was born in Westport’s Saugatuck section on June 4, 1933 to Nicholas Nuzzo and Marie Ocone Nuzzo. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in England with the 835th Engineer Aviation Company and was assigned with the Army SCARWAF.

He moved to Arizona in 1972 and moved to Willcox in 1999 and was a plumber. He was a member of the Willcox Elks Lodge No. 2131, American Legion, had been an assistant boxing coach for the Boys Club of Phoenix and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

On May 22, 1954 in Bristol, England he married Patricia Dancey who survives him. He is also survived by his children; Michael ( Janice) Nuzzo of Cold Springs, N.Y., William ( Tracey) Nuzzo of Lexington, Missouri, Joseph ( Lorri) Nuzzo of Beacon Falls, Matthew ( Marti) Nuzzo of Willcox and Nicole ( Dan) Musolino of Ridgefield, along with eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers Anthony (Judy) Nuzzo, Daniel (Sophia) Nuzzo and James Nuzzo and his sister Lucille (Ray) Nelson. Preceding him in death were his parents and a grandson Joshua.

A Rosary was offered. on Nov. 20, 2014 at Westlawn Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Nov. 21, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Private interment of his cremated remains followed.
