Jean Elizabeth Rabin of Trumbull, a former Westport resident, died Oct. 2 at home. She was 79.
She was the owner of Record and Tape of Westport Inc., for many years located at 385 Post Road East in the Compo Shopping Center, now home to the Verizon store.
She is survived by her husband, Monte Rabin, as well as her children, daughter Lynne Huffines and her partner Diane Sanford of Fairfield, daughter Dianne Teitelbaum and her husband Paul Teitelbaum of Norcross, Ga., stepson Mitchell Rabin and his wife Sharmilla of New York City, and stepdaughter Ronni Katz and her husband Matthew of Israel, formerly of New Haven. Also, by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, one sister and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.
Visitation is Thursday, Oct. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, and the memorial service on Friday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. at Greens Farms Congregational Church, 71 Hillandale Road, Westport. Many new town residents probably don’t know of Record and Tape but it was THE place to go for music (besides Sally of course). Jean was always such a friendly face and very helpful over the years. My condolences to her family.
