Wesport’s Representative Town Meeting (RTM) has been asked to designate the home of the late Baron Walter Langer von Langendorff on the town-owned Baron’s South as a local historic landmark property. The Austrian-born chemist, who founded Evyan Perfumes Inc. and created its White Shoulders fragrance, purchased the property in 1967. Its main Georgian-style brick house became known as “Golden Shadows.” He died in 1983, and the town purchased the 23-acre property in 1999. In recent years, the house has been used by the Friends of the Westport Library for storage and sorting prior to its book sales. Photographer Dave Matlow provides this glimpse inside. This is a lovely property and looks to be in relatively good condition. Should be able to be used for something more than storage. Perhaps there are people uses???
