Herbert S. Grant, 69

Herbert S. Grant of Stratford died Aug. 25 in a construction accident in Westport. He was 69.

He was born in Winn, Maine one of 13 children born to the late Herbert and Katherine Grant. He had been a Stratford resident for many years.

He was the owner of H. Grant Construction Co. From a very young age, he developed an extremely strong work ethic. He absolutely loved his work and starting bringing his children and grandchildren with him to job sites when they were children, later employing some of them as adults.

He took great pride in a job well done and was well respected among his peers.

Survivors include three sons, Herbert Grant and his wife, Helen of Southington, Joel Grant of Stratford and Billy Grant and his wife, Corrie of Stratford; two daughters, Katherine Andrews and her partner, T.J. of Winn, Maie and Holly Moseley and her husband, Al of Bangor, Maine; two special nieces that he considered his daughters, Tina Gabriel and her husband, Mark of Stratford and Gina Weller of Stratford; one brother, Joel Grant; three sisters, Muriel, Ruth and Carline; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He had been predeceased by his life partner, Judy Grant.

Friends may greet the family on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
