Helen Joseph of Westport died June 23. She was 101.
Born in New York City, she moved to Westport in 1997. Her career was spent as a fashion director and coordinator for the footwear industry. Each year, she would tour the fashion capitals of the world looking at what was being shown in men’s and women’s footwear.
Her reports, fashion findings and recommendations to the National Footwear Association in the United States and Canada would dictate the styles, colors and looks that would be produced for men’s and women’s footwear each year. She retired at age 70.
Her family said she was a woman who lived her life to the fullest. She deeply loved her family, her friends, golf, bridge, theater, fine dining, and classical music. Her warm smile, wonderful disposition, mature wisdom and gentle sense of humor will be missed.
She leaves her son, Alan, two grandsons, Robert and Jonathan, two great grandsons Amos and Sebastian, a great granddaughter Devan and her nephews, George Hillyer and Stephen Frampton.
A private memorial service will be held in Fairfield.
