The Westport Weston Health District is sponsoring an educational forum on MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the Intermediate School Cafetorium, 24 School Road, Weston.
MRSA is a type of staph bacteria that causes skin infections and cannot be treated with certain antibiotics.
It has as been in the news spotlight over the past several weeks as a cause of serious infections. Westport and Weston each reported a MRSA case in recent weeks.
The panel, led by Dr. Stuart Steinman, medical adviser to the District, will discuss MRSA infections, treatment, and prevention.
