Gallery: Arts Center Presents to P&Z

Scenes from tonight’s meeting as proponents urged the Planning and Zoning Commission to approve the use of the town-owned Baron’s South for a scaled down plan by the Westport Arts Center to use the Golden Shadows mansion and its guesthouse as its new home. Three other buildings nearby would not be part of the plan. The meeting was told that other nonprofits wouldl participate in the plan — the town-owned school permanent arts collection, the Westport Artists Collective, and advocates for a museum to honor the history of the arts in the town. A highlight of the meeting was a slide presentation by well-known artist Leonard Everett Fisher featuring prominent artists who have made Westport their home. The P&Z will vote on the matter at a future meeting. Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
