Westport and Fairfield firefighters worked together early today to free four occupants from two vehicles, which rolled over on I-95 northbound on the Westport-Fairfield border between exits 18 and 19. One victim was in one vehicle and was uninjured, and three in the second vehicle suffered moderate to serious injuries, said Fairfield Assistant Chief George Gomola. “This was a serious accident and a very complicated extrication,” he said. “The high level of professionalism and cooperation demonstrated by the Fairfield and Westport Fire Departments during this extrication helped to saved lives and reduced the impact of this accident on the victims. This was a job well done by all.” Two of the injured were transported to Bridgeport Hospital and one to Norwalk Hospital following the 1:55 a.m. crash, he said.
