John Dodig: interim Staples principal. WN photoThe recently retired principal/headmaster of Fairfield High School, John M. Dodig, has been named interim principal at Westport’s Staples High School, replacing the departing John J. Brady, it was announced today.
The appointment was announced to school staff by Supt. of Schools Elliott Landon in an e-mail. Landon said Dodig will serve for the remainder of the school year.
Brady is expected to report to his new job in the Amity Regional School District Oct. 18. His hiring was confirmed tonight by the Amity Board of Education which said he had agreed to a three-year contract.
Landon told staff members that Dodig “comes to us with a great reputation among teachers, administrators, students, and parents who have had the opportunity to know and work with him at Fairfield High School over the past 11 years.”
“We are very fortunate to have been able to recruit and employ Mr. Dodig for this important assignment,” the school official said.
Landon said the extensive experience in instructional leadership and high school construction Dodig brings with him will enable Staples"to continue to flourish” during this period of transition as the district seeks a permanent principal.
He said Dodig will visit Staples Friday and next Tuesday, Oct. 5, and expressed the hope that staff members would take the opportunity to greet him while he is on campus.
Dodig began his career teaching mathematics at Troup Middle School in New Haven, later becoming assistant principal at Daniel Hand High School in Madison, principal of Cheshire High School and principal of Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, according to the Fairfield High School Web site.
He served 11 years as Headmaster at Fairfield High School before announcing his recent retirement.
