Florence Hanslam Cole, a former Westport resident, died May 23 at Putnam Farm in Danvers, Mass. She was 93.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence (Newman) Haslam. She was raised and educated in Westport.
She was a graduate of the North Field Mount Hermon School, Barnard College and Katherine Gibbs School. She was a longtime member of the Congregational Church of Topsfield.
Active in church circles she enjoyed singing and was a member of the church choir at the Congregational Church of Norwalk and the Choir at Congregational Church of Topsfield.
Classical music was her favorite and was often playing in her home as she was singing along.
She is survived by her daughters, Frances Cole Sculley and her husband Richard J. of Rowley and Abigail Cole of Topsfield, her grandchildren, Daniel Cole Benedix of Washington D.C., Brian James Sculley of Rowley and Erin Aileen Sculley of Middletown, her son-in-law David Benedix and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service which will be held Sunday, June 8, at noon in the Congregational Church of Topsfield, East Common St. Burial is private.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Florence’s memory to the Congregational Church of Topsfield, 9 East Common St., Topsfield, MA 01983.
