The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch, coastal flood advisory, and wind advisory for Westport and area as a large storm system approaches from the southwest.
The coastal flood advisory is in effect from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday. The Weather Service said to expect tides around 2.5 feet above astronomical tides.
This will result in flooding of vulnerable shore roads and/or basements due to height of storm tide, wave splash over, and heavy rainfall, it said, adding, “There is no significant threat to life and any impact on property is minimal.”
There was also a flood watch in effect from midnight tonight through Wednesday afternoon. Rainfall of 2 to 3 inches with local amounts of up to 4 inches in and near the higher terrain north and west of New York
City can be expected, the Weather Service said.
Finally, a wind advisory was in effect from midnight tonight to 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The Weather Services said winds would be from the southeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
