The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the Fairfield County area.
It said at 7:16 a.m National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated rainfall rates of one inch per hour or greater falling across the warned area.
Rainfall this heavy will likely cause flash flooding of roadways, hghways, low lying areas, creeks and streams.
Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Newtown, Monroe, Danbury and Bethel, an advisory said.
