The National Weather Service in Upton, N.Y. has issued a flash flood watch for Westport and area from Friday morning through Saturday morning.
An advisory said numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop during the day on Friday with the potential for an additional round of development Friday night.
Rainfall amounts in excess of 2 inches is possible across the watch area, it said.
Rainfall of this magnitude will result in flooding due to excessive runoff from already saturated ground as well as flooding of urban and poor drainage areas.
